We know that fall is coming when the weather gets chilly and the leaves start to drop. If you are looking for some fun family activities to do this fall, these ideas can help you enjoy the cool weather and have fun together!

Do a Fall Craft

If it’s too chilly to be outside, fall crafts can be a great way to get creative and also stay warm inside. This list of fall crafts has ideas for parents and kids of all ages. These activities range from crafts you hang on the fridge to full home decor.

Pumpkin Patch

Pumpkins are a staple of the fall season! Take your family to a pumpkin patch to pick out your very own pumpkin. Often you can find pumpkins for carving and for cooking at the same patch. Don’t forget to look out for the hay rides you often see at pumpkin patches.

Carve Pumpkins

Once you have your pumpkin, you can give it a face! Carving pumpkins gives your kids a chance to get creative, and also a little messy. These pumpkin carving templates can help you if you need inspiration.

Attend a Fall Festival or Trunk-or-Treat

If your family doesn’t do Halloween, but you still like dressing up and getting candy, lots of churches and organizations have wholesome events for you. Your kids can dress up in a fun costume (you can too!) and then play carnival games and get candy. Googling “fall festival” or “trunk or treat” can help you find activities near you.

Bake a Fall Themed Treat

Fall comes with lots of good baking flavors, like pumpkin, apples, peaches, and warm spices. Pick a favorite recipe for cookies or pie and your kids can help stir (and lick the spoon after!) If you need ideas, we like a basic apple pie or these delicious pumpkin cookies.

Find a Corn Maze

Corn mazes are a great excuse to get outside and run around with your family this fall! Make it a challenge to see who can get out the fastest, or who can find the most dead ends. This activity is a good way to practice family teamwork.

Make Apple Cider

One of the things about fall is the food and flavors! You can heat up store bought apple cider or make some yourself. Try it with a cinnamon stick for a kick of spice!

Have a Cozy Movie Night

Nothing is better than a cozy night in with the family! Pick your favorite movie, put on your pjs, make some popcorn, and cuddle up under a warm blanket. Bonus points if you pick a fall themed movie (we love It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown).

Rake leaves and jump into them

You get a two in one (chores and fun) when you make a leaf pile. Help your kids rake leaves into a pile in your backyard, and then have all the fun of jumping into them!

Do a Family Photoshoot

Fall is undeniably the most beautiful season, so take advantage of the beautiful fall colors and do a family photo shoot. You can hire a professional photographer, or do it yourself with great results!
